Endurance80|40 - what its about
Endurance80 is a 24 hour hike covering 50 miles (80 kms) of cross country hiking across the Chilterns. Endurance40 is its younger sibling for scouts covering 25 miles (40 kms) across much of the same route. The 80 km route starts at Great Missenden, works its way over to Chesham, then northwest towards Tring, before turning southwest through Wendover, Princes Risborough and on to Stokenchurch. At Stokenchurch the route turns back to Great Missenden, via Radnage and Prestwood.
The 40 km route follows the same route up to Wendover, where it turns southeast and returns to Great Missenden via Lee Common.
Endurance 80 is open to Explorers, Network and all adults in scouting. And a very wide age range of walkers take part. Some people have been known to run it, most people walk it, some very quickly.
Endurance40 is for scouts (who may be shaddowed by a leader if desired by the relevent scout leader). It is intended to give them a taste of what Endurance80 is like.
